The City Administration Task Force has recommended hiring a City Manager.
I do not support a City Manager for Madison. I believe a municipality the size of Madison does not need a City Manager. A City Manager would be redundant in a smoothly working system. I do not want such a powerful positon held by an unelected person.
The families of Madison benefit from a well performing government. Simplicity: The Mayor and City Council members, working together, establish the objectives that benefit the city and agree upon a budget to reach these goals. Under the Mayor’s direction, the city departments implement the plans. As new items of business arise throughout the year, the Mayor and Council, working together, address the issues.
